Does it need a USB connection or driver?
No. The module has no USB port and requires no driver. It is powered from the TTL side (3.3V to 5.5V) and works as a pure level translator between RS232 and TTL serial signals.
How should I wire TX, RX and GND?
Connect module TX to device RX, and module RX to device TX. The GND of both sides must be linked — a missing common ground causes garbled data, communication failure or hardware damage.
Can I connect the RS232 side directly to MCU I/O pins?
No. The DB9 port carries RS232 levels of about ±10V while the 4-pin header is TTL level. Feeding RS232 signals directly into MCU I/O pins will burn the port. This module has no electrical isolation.
What power supply and baud rate should I use?
Only 3.3V to 5.5V input is allowed — never 12V or 24V, and never reverse VCC and GND. Match the supply to your TTL device logic level. Baud rate, data bits, stop bits and parity must be identical on both sides; rates above 115200 bps risk packet loss.
