Is this unit active or passive? Does it need external power?
The DMX-NT is fully passive. No power supply or batteries required, just plug-and-play operation.
What Ethernet cable should I use?
Use shielded Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat7 cable (sold separately). Shielded cable is strongly recommended to avoid signal interference.
Can it replace traditional multi-channel XLR snake cables?
Yes. It packs four XLR signals into one Ethernet cable, reducing heavy, bulky XLR snake cables for stage, studio and theater setups.

Distance depends on cable quality and signal type. For DMX and analog audio, use high-quality shielded Cat6 for longer runs; AES/EBU follows standard digital cable distance limits.
