OEM customisation — change the model, keep the platform
Colour, connector layout, cable length, LED behaviour and silk-screen artwork on a product that is already in production. This page sets out what can change, what cannot, the minimums for each kind of change, and the sequence from option list to approved sample.
To distributors, installers and brand owners who need a model to fit their own reality,
Tittron — the B2B division of FlykanTech — invites you to customise what we already build. A KVM switch with the port order your installers expect, a dock in your corporate colour, a cable at the length your rack actually needs, a housing with your artwork silk-screened onto it: these are changes to a proven platform, not new products, and they are quoted and delivered on that basis.
The commercial advantage is that the electronics, the certification and the production line already exist. Change the parts that matter to your market and leave the parts that work, and the minimum stays in the hundreds rather than the thousands a new model would demand.
Tell us which model is closest and what has to be different. We will return an option list — what is possible on that model, at what minimum, and with what lead time.

What the service actually solves
OEM customisation is the layer between buying a catalogue model and developing a new one. The platform, its electronics and its certification are unchanged; what changes is how the product looks, how it is wired, how it behaves on power-up and what is printed on it.
That boundary is what keeps the numbers sane. Because the certification build is untouched, a customised model ships with the same compliance files, the same reliability record and the same two-year warranty as the standard one — and the minimum order quantity stays at a level a first programme can actually absorb.
It is also the fastest route to a product that looks like it was made for your channel. A sample with your colour, your port order and your logo can be in your hands in weeks, approved against a physical unit rather than a drawing.
From base model to approved sample
-
01
Pick the base model
Name the catalogue model closest to what you need — or the job it has to do. We confirm which changes that platform accepts and flag any that would push it into ODM territory.
- 259 models across 33 families to start from
- We state up front which changes are cosmetic, which are functional, and which are not possible
- Alternative base models suggested where they fit your brief better
-
02
Option list and quotation
Every available change for that model is listed with its minimum, its effect on lead time and its effect on unit price. You choose the combination, and the quotation reflects exactly that combination.
- Colour, finish, port layout, cable, LED behaviour, artwork and packaging as separate lines
- Minimums stated per change, not per order
- Unit price quoted at your volume, with the tooling or set-up cost shown separately where there is one
-
03
Engineering check
The chosen combination is checked against the mechanical, thermal and electrical limits of the platform before anything is made — including any change that alters EMC behaviour or heat dissipation.
- Port relocation checked against board clearance and cable bend radius
- Cable length checked against signal integrity at the specified resolution and refresh rate
- Any change affecting the certified build is flagged and, where needed, re-tested
-
04
Sample build
A physical sample is produced with your colour, layout, cable, LED behaviour and artwork, and shipped for approval in your own environment.
- One to three units, typically within two to four weeks
- Silk-screen and laser artwork applied exactly as it will appear in production
- Sample cost credited against the production order
-
05
Approval and specification freeze
You approve the sample, and the approved configuration is written down as a specification with a reference number. Every repeat order is built against that reference, so the second run matches the first.
- Written specification with photos of the approved unit
- Artwork files stored against the reference for re-runs
- Change requests after freeze are quoted as a new revision
-
06
Production and repeat runs
The customised model enters production with an agreed AQL, and repeats are ordered against the specification reference at the same minimum.
- Inspection report and photo set per shipment
- Customised packaging and documentation produced in the same run
- Re-runs do not need a new sample unless the specification changes
The numbers, at a glance
| Minimum, cosmetic changes | 200–300 pieces for colour, artwork and packaging |
|---|---|
| Minimum, mechanical changes | 500 pieces for port layout, housing modification or cable specification |
| Sample lead time | 2–4 weeks from artwork and option approval |
| Production lead time | 25–35 days from sample approval |
| Colour options | Standard black, white and grey; Pantone-matched from 500 pieces |
| Cable options | Length, jacket colour, connector orientation and labelling |
| Certification | Cosmetic changes keep the existing files; changes to the certified build are re-tested |
| Warranty | Two years, unchanged by customisation |
The figures below are typical values. The quotation states the exact minimums, lead time and commercial terms for your specific programme.
What we actually do
Housing colour and finish
Standard and Pantone-matched colours in gloss, matte or textured finishes, applied to the production housing rather than as a post-process, so wear and colour consistency behave like the standard model.
Connector layout
Port order, port spacing and port mix rearranged where the board allows, including removing unused ports or moving the ones your installers reach for first.
Cable length and specification
Attached cables built to the length your installation needs, with jacket colour, connector orientation and printed labelling specified, and signal integrity verified at the length you chose.
LED and power behaviour
LED colour, brightness and blink patterns, plus default power-on state and switching behaviour — changed in firmware on the same platform.
Three ways programmes usually start
Cosmetic package
Colour, finish, silk-screen or laser artwork, packaging and documentation. Lowest minimum, shortest lead time, and the platform is untouched.
Behaviour package
Firmware-level defaults: LED behaviour, power-on state, default video or audio mode and USB identifiers, set once and written into every unit of the run.
Mechanical package
Port layout, cable specification, housing modification and mounting features. The deepest layer of OEM customisation before a programme becomes an ODM development.
Who this invitation is for
Distributors and channel brands
A catalogue model that needs to look like it belongs in your range before it goes on your price list.
System integrators and installers
Fixed installations where the standard port order, cable length or mounting does not fit the site, and the same configuration repeats across jobs.
Corporate and education buyers
Fleet deployments needing a consistent colour, a labelled cable and a default behaviour that matches the standard operating image.
Private label programmes
Brands that want their own look on a proven platform before committing to the volumes a full private label run implies.
The resources behind it
These sit inside the same organisation — that is why the work can be quoted, built and shipped as one programme.
One plant, every family
Docking, KVM, MIDI, capture, charging, converters, splitters and extenders are engineered and built by the same factory, so customisation is handled where the product is made.
Certification library
Existing CE, FCC, UKCA, RoHS and REACH files for the base model, plus the test capacity to re-verify a change that touches the certified build.
Firmware and tooling in-house
Firmware changes written and released by the team that maintains the platform; silk screens, fixtures and jigs made on site.
Packaging, printing and logistics
Customised packaging, labels and manuals produced in the same run, then consolidated and shipped under EXW, FOB, DDU or DDP.

Standard terms for a first programme. Framework agreements, payment terms and exclusivity are open to discussion from the second order onwards.
What buyers ask first
Which changes keep the existing certification?
Colour, finish, artwork, packaging, documentation and firmware defaults do not touch the certified build, so the existing CE, FCC and UKCA files continue to apply. Changes that alter the electronics, the port layout or the shielded enclosure are re-tested, and we tell you which category your change falls into before you pay for anything.
Can you match a Pantone colour?
Yes, from 500 pieces. Below that the standard black, white and grey covers most programmes, and we send physical colour chips rather than a screen rendering so the decision is made against the real finish.
How long is a customised cable verified for?
At the length you specify, at the resolution and refresh rate your deployment uses. A two-metre cable that is fine at 1080p may not be at 4K60, so the engineering check is done against your actual use case, not against a generic limit.
Will a repeat order match the first one?
Yes. The approved sample is written up as a specification with a reference number, including photos and stored artwork, and re-runs are ordered against that reference. Only a deliberate revision changes the build.
At what point does this become ODM development?
When the change needs a new enclosure, a new board feature or its own certification path. We flag that threshold in the option list rather than quoting a customisation that cannot be delivered — and the two routes are priced differently from the start.
